Engineers were able to "poke" the venerable probe and get more information then just a string of "101010101010101" which might mean a small corrupted memory sector

I'm old enough to remember when the Voyagers launched and Carl Sagan was the missions' mainstream promoter. JPL had open houses once in a while, so we could go there for presentations.
