"It’s hard to emphasize how big of a deal and how rare a Level 4 'high risk' area is. They are issued on fewer than 4% of days per year on average, but are responsible for more than 80% of all flood-related damage and 39% of all flood-related deaths."

Tomorrow's apocalyptic weather forecast for SoCal reminds me of "the Big One" on March 1, 1983. I was a police dispatcher in Irvine, in Orange County. Flooding and road closures everywhere. My apartment complex flooded, but I was at work and my unit was on an upper floor.

Hopefully the next few days fare better.
