@MLClark He had found a new career with "The Mandalorian." He clearly became an influence behind the scenes, including directing two episodes.
His signature character was, of course, Apollo Creed. "Rocky" doesn't work without Carl's performance. And without that performance, there are no sequels, nor do we have the "Creed" movies which shine on their own.
