I've tried to avoid any commentary on what is obviously a sensitive topic right now ...

But the political consultant "spin doctor" in me has been musing that Israel, the U.S., and other allies should be spinning the IDF invasion of Gaza not just as a rescue mission for the hostages, but for all Palestinians under the thumb of Hamas.

"Join us in the streets! Help us bring down your oppressors!"

Especially now that Hamas is firing on its own refugees. (1/2)

@WordsmithFL: They're trying to, but they're up against decades of well-established, usually Progressive narratives the world over.

@thedisasterautist I don't think the current Israeli leadership under Netanyahu could find the wisdom to call for collaboration with moderate Palestinians. Their strategy has been all about keeping the Palestinians divided and weak. I doubt it would get much sympathy. But I might have tried it in the first days after the October 7 terror attack.

@WordsmithFL: I imagine Netanyahu & Co. weren't thinking much of Pakistan on or just after Oct.7. Hindsighting it or anything else is always free of fog. Well, except for that some in his administration are said to have ignored warnings from friendly neighbors that something was incoming shortly.
