#Politics From #CNN: House Republicans are back in closed session. One idea being considered is a "unity ticket" where Kevin McCarthy would return as Speaker with Jim Jordan his deputy.

#Politics #NBCNews reports that former Speaker Kevin McCarthy is the one floating the idea of a unity ticket with Jim Jordan as "Assistant Speaker."
"Amid the impasse, McCarthy is floating a plan that would reinstall him as speaker and make Jordan, a conservative Trump ally, the assistant speaker, according to three sources familiar with McCarthy’s pitch."
@waywardflf Katherine Clark served as Nancy Pelosi's Assistant Speaker.

@WordsmithFL And a fine job she did, too.
But the assistant doesn't inherit the job if Qev....I mean, the Speaker, accidently falls under a bus or sumthin', right?
@waywardflf The assistant doesn't automatically inherit the Speaker position -- the floor has to vote -- but it would strongly imply that the assistant is the heir apparent.
To me, it would also imply that Jordan is a "minder" who would rat out McCarthy in a heartbeat.
Pelosi was confident in her power. McCarthy is not.
@WordsmithFL They would laugh at him behind his back.
And maybe in his face, too.
He wouldn't be able to take or make a phone call, or go anywhere, without an escort.
No self respect.
#Politics About ten House Republicans voted no on Rep. Tom Emmer's nomination, in the conference private roll call vote, according to Rep. Dan Meuser (R-PA).
