It appears that a Republican conference initiative to expand interim speaker McHenry's powers has failed.
Jim Jordan is insisting on a third floor vote to name him Speaker. It may happen this afternoon or evening in a rush vote, but nothing official.

@Kittiekatt53 #Biden is supposed to address the nation at 8 PM EDT. It would be just like the MAGAs to try to pre-empt his speech by holding their Speaker vote at the same time.
#Politics From #CNN: Jordan's meeting with the 22 holdouts is over. Jordan just said, "We had a good discussion." Interim Speaker McHenry says it's still unclear if they'll hold another vote tonight.
I still think they'll be stinkers and try to do this opposite Biden's national address, hoping enough Democrats don't show up to put Jordan over the top, but we'll see.
