#Politics Idle thought ... If the MAGA House Republicans succeed in removing Speaker McCarthy, technically anyone can be Speaker. It doesn't have to be a House member.
In the past, there was MAGA speculation about naming Trump speaker. Would they try it this time, thinking it might get him out of his prosecutions?

@CarmenSlamdiego There's also the wild card of who Gavin Newsome nominates to replace Dianne Feinstein in the Senate. He promised to nominate a black woman. Rep. Barbara Lee has already declared her candidacy; Newsome said he won't name a candidate. Rep. Maxine Waters could be another candidate. Either one would remove one Dem vote in the House.
Newsome needs to find a caretaker who isn't in office, at least in the House. #Politics
