#Politics I did not know about "Ax Handle Saturday" until #Maddow talked about it last night. Yet another disgraceful episode of #Florida bigotry and racism.
In 1960, African-Americans peacefully sat at segregated lunch counters until White racists (including the KKK) descended upon them with ax handles and baseball bats.
I'm surprised #DeSantis hasn't banned teaching this too.

#Politics As #Maddow reported last night, the Jacksonville #Florida Times-Union failed to report on this, even though it happened in their downtown and national papers covered it on their front pages.
The Times-Union has made up for it in recent years with a number of articles, such as this one cited by #Maddow.
