#Russia At some point, #Putin must have thought himself quite brilliant to set up a mercenary group separate from the government military, as a counterweight to the Russian "deep state."
His monster has turned against him.
The problem with a monster is it lacks ethics. It's feral, without conscience. And it will turn on you.
More importantly, if #Putin "departs," he leaves a leadership vacuum. We sure don't want Prigozhin running the country.
Alexei Navalny is the guy, but I can't believe that an ultra-fascist like Prigozhin would step aside for a Russian progressive.
The soft landing would be for rational military leaders to establish an interim government until legit elections can be held. But that's not easily accomplished in Russia.
I think most #CoSo members are sane and rational, but remember to be skeptical of any social media reports unless verified by mainstream media.
All the players in the Russian rebellion are quite skilled at disinformation. #Putin chased the world's free media out of Russia last year, so it will be very hard to get independently verifiable news.
I'm seeing lots of video and audio. We don't know how much of it is real. Be skeptical.
@WordsmithFL Yeah the GOP is suffering with the same lesson with Frankentrump.
@MidnightRider The real question is, who will the Republican Party take orders from once Putin departs this plane of existence? π
@WordsmithFL Whoever writes the most generous checks, as always.
@MidnightRider A ruble doesn't go as a far as it used to. π
@WordsmithFL Russia has mad Palladium resources, I'm sure that would be very welcome as legal tender.

Catching up on #Russia news overnight via this #CNN breaking news page ... #Putin addressed the nation. He accused Prigozhin of betrayal and Wagner of insurrection. He's calling it terrorism.
I think this boils down to which way the government military goes.
