#WDEFWeather #News12Weather #BlipCast Thursday: One week left in October and - outside of a minimal chance for rain - the month looks to finish very dry.
Details on your forecast coming up tonight on @WDEFNews12 at 5:30, 6, 7 & 11.
"Three new hurricanes (Debby, Helene, and Milton) and one tornado outbreak were added to the 2024 #BillionDollarDisaster total. The year-to-date total now stands at 24 events—the second-highest event total by this point in the year." NOAA NCEI

#ProtectThePlanet #ThereIsNoPlanetB "A reminder that our world is pushing the planet's thermostat beyond safe levels of 350 ppm CO2, and that more people are needed to combine our ingenuity and resources to keep the present overshoot brief." @CO2Earth
Outside of a possible system north of South America drifting into the Caribbean, things are quiet across the Atlantic basin as conditions are unfavorable for any tropical systems to develop.
About a week to go in October 2024 and looking like it'll wind up being a very dry month's end if no rain reaches us soon.

'When Hurricanes Hit, Online Chatter Drowns Out Safety Messaging'
"The team’s research does suggest some ways that officials can maximize the chances of #safetymessages reaching a broad audience. Descriptive messaging about storms tends to outperform safety messages, for instance—so combining the two, and weaving public safety notifications or warnings into more descriptive social-media posts, might help to boost the reach of such messages."

"On the third Thursday of every month, NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center issues an outlook for temperature and precipitation for the United States for the coming month. These climate outlooks are updated on the last day of each month. Those updated outlooks are the basis for the posts that appear on Climate.gov each month. Seasonal (90-day) outlooks are released around the middle of each month. " @NOAA Climate.gov
Gullies and Arcuate Ridges
This observation shows gullies and arcuate ridges in a crater in the Southern Hemisphere of Mars. Arcuate ridges and gullies are found together at many places on Mars, leading some researchers to suggest that their coexistence may be a result of a single process.
Next best chance for rain somewhere around trick-or-treat time. Not to worry as we have a long time between here and there, and with as dry as it has been, good possibility that trend will continue into early November.
Plus, more on dangerous #WeatherMisinformation and death threats against fellow meteorologists.
