It’d like to remind everyone that when barcodes were invented, evangelists believed they were “of the devil” and if you came near one, Satan would crawl up your belly button or, if you’re a woman, up your vagina and impregnate you with the Antichrist, which would force them to face a very difficult choice regarding their pregnancy termination stance, and that is why the Hobby Lobby has no barcodes or exit scanners to this day.
I attended a "Christian" "school" in the 80s and they definitely had an issue with bar codes being "the mark of the beast."
Don't know about Hobby Lobby, I've never set foot in one.
@Tarnagh @see_the_sus
None of their own and no exit scanners.
Many manufacturers provide barcodes already printed on their packaging though

From pastors, where else
Number of child rapes by drag queens -- 0
Number of child rapes by priests -- in the dozens each year (conviction statistics)
Why would anyone expect them to produce GOOD ideas? It's a mystery to me.

I saw an old newspaper ad that promoted the evils of electricity.
Super conservative folks (and religious people are ultra-conservative by definition) always make up horror tales about every progressive thing or idea they encounter, because their biggest fear is change.
Remember, back in the early 80s computers were very expensive and few people could afford them.
Conservtives, as Vonzales said, fear change more than anything.
Technology was advancing so quickly through the 80s that they had a lot to be afraid of. Debit cards were another "mark of the beast" I remember.
All the way to RFID chips now. It's the same energy across the decades.
Can't say I ever heard about the debit card stupidity. I never had cable until 2013 but it was basic. When I was on FB, I typically ignored any BS GOP posts that friends might post. The bird is a bit harder to ignore but I do my best.
I've got a pretty vivid imagination but why not just say "Followers! Do not follow technology for it will lead you to hell! You will burn for eternity should you lay your eyes upon a barcode! Or touch a debit card! Or use electricity!" 🤷♀️
It all ties together with the anti-christ taking over governments, tracking people - especially Christians! - and something something total global control. They've been banging on about the evils of a "one world government" since at least the 80s because that would be proof that the anti-christ was behind it all.
Ultimately it's about the brainwashing and the grift. Always has been, always will be.
The words may change but the song remains the same.
It all ties together with their persecution complex. Any technological or social advancements are by default part of the "War on Christians."
Any policy or change of any kind that doesn't directly, exclusively benefit them is part of their delusional "war" on them.
I do need to qualify this with a statement:
This applies only to a certain flavor of "Christianity."
The type of Christians who support Trump, specifically.
Fundamentalists actively trying to destroy the earth because they're trying to force the fulfillment of the end times prophecies in Revelations.
They believe that the sooner these things come to pass the sooner Jesus returns to Rapture them. Just them. F the rest of us. We're just sinners and deserve punishment.
@Vonzales JFC … 🤣🤣🤣
@Vonzales
Is this actually true or are we being punked?
I’ve shopped in Hobby Lobby, many many years ago, and I’m pretty certain a lot of items I bought had bar codes because I bought the same items elsewhere and those bottles have barcodes.
