My Dad's probably going to a hospital. Abdomen problems. A full examination is to be done tomorrow to determine whether there is cause for grave concern.
I guess I've come into the stage of my life when care for the elderly becomes a prominent article.
Oh, well... I love him. Here's hoping there's nothing serious going on.

Thank you.
He's already acting like it's the end of the road.
I need to counter that somehow, but I gotta regroup first
get a hold of my own panic
My BFF from childhood has recently received a tumor diagnosis (lung: size of walnut), and his wife is a high-strung person.
So I made this comment to her, then him:
"We just found ourselves in the lifeboat with [husband] ~ now we have to pull together and row him ashore!"
It helped her calm her mind, a bit.
Best of wishes... to your Dad.

You've got the key there. You'll do the most good for your Dad after you catch your breath, have time to think and get some perspective.
Do you have access to any counseling for yourself? Some hospitals understand that relatives are also patients, and may have someone available, or at least direct you to the right resource.
Don't know what to say but that I hope for the best possible outcome.
