Got reminded of an old conspiracy from the soviet times: allegedly, dumpster truckfuls of "rich Moldavien black soil" were stolen by the Germans during WWII and taken to Germany, which accounts for their abundant agriculture turnover 😂

Despite how ridiculous it is, it's a prominent theme among older folks and pops up in conversations regularly to this day.

Judging by the state of roads in Moldova I'd say the Germans stole the asphalt.
