Ukraine's Presidential race has officially started.
A candidate from Lviv announced his bid today.
George Kozlovski is an entrepreneur who had been previously accused of freeriding the war effort for his personal publicity.
I don't have an opinion yet.
@Tarnagh The people will decide with their votes. War or not, democracy wasn't cancelled. Ukraine isn't Russia.
Oh of course. I'm not questioning the election. I just have a knee-jerk (emphasis on "jerk," probably) reaction to the word entrepreneur these days.
@OldCountryDoctor His was and is a surprising performance. Many people in Ukraine were extremely skeptical of the future under Zelenskii given his what you could call comedic past.
He used to openly joke about the perceived absurdity of claims of Putin's imminent invasion. He was basically voted in by those who were tired of Poroschenko's constant warnings, which they thought were mere populism.
So you never really know. Comedian turned war leader? Who would have thunk it.
@OldCountryDoctor Yeah, and the next guy may turn out to be one too.
@Vonzales
With everything Ukraine is going through at the moment, why would anyone *want* the job?
Okay, it's election time despite the whole Russian invasion thing. Maybe keep the guy that's handling it effectively?
I'd be really suspicious of an "entrepreneur" who is jockeying for position there. I'd worry that he'd sell out the country to the Russians if it was more profitable for him to do so.
Good luck to the Ukrainians. I hope they're smart enough to see through that kind of tactic.
