We've been saying that since FOREVER. Glad they're figuring out how to prove and document what we know though.

@Agatha knowing male medical doctors and their infinite wisdom they probably "diagnose" and attribute these changes as nothing more than women behavior. You've be surprised at a few things that medicine still needs to catch up with along with their stubbornness to change. Let's see how long it takes for medicine to catch up with science...

@Victor

I'd not be at all surprised, having experienced it myself. At 19, pregnant, I went to the ER w/severe pain shooting through my back. I was only 3 months along, yet a doctor had the audacity to tell me it was heartburn from the peanut sized baby pressing against my stomach. 3 more months, another hospital. 2 more useless docs. Last one accused be of drug seeking. No tests. No scans.

It was 80 gallstones. I and my son would be dead if my ob/gyn hadn't pulled strings at hosp #3 & doc #4.

@Victor

I was basically accused of "hysterics" but they didn't use that term. Keep in mind I was EXTREMELY calm despite the pain. But I hear "first time mom", "hormones", blah blah blah.

I still get that attitude. My now husband witnessed it a year or two ago, and he was SHOCKED because, of course, he is always taken seriously.

@Agatha I've listened to my wife's complaints about her doctor visits
1. She had a OB/GYN for many years and she was happy with her. Unfortunately, she retired and wife had to find a new doctor. Tried several other OB/GYN but bedside manners were lacking or were not well informed. At times, my wife knew more than some of them. Wife has a BS in microbiology. 1/X

@Agatha
2. I told my wife that majority of medical doctors only have a bachelor's degree and were, in certain instances, no more knowledgeable than her. If they are patronizing/condescending then you should look for another doctor in our HMO.

3. I know that doctors get frustrated with patients that use the internet to self-diagnose. This is different than using internet to become knowledgeable and then bring this information to ask your doctor questions. Doctors sometimes need to be knocked off their pedestals and bring them down to earth. 3/X

@Victor

My last ob wanted to argue that my "total hysterectomy", which she did not perform, included my ovaries. I suggested she look up the definition of "total hysterectomy", because I certainly still have my ovaries, and it was definitely a "total hysterectomy". I've not been back to see her.
