@singlemaltgirl water wars have been around for years but they are now being amplified by climate changes and absurdly magnified by drought, politics, and management. One of the reasons why the saying "whiskey is for drinking and water is for fighting" has been around since the old west...

@Victor i wasn't aware of any countries that have gone to war regarding water rights...yet. but i think it's coming.

@singlemaltgirl The term "war" as in full combat engagement is probably unnecessary as gaining rights to water without the use of war is probably more common than you think. Pacific Institute here in California keeps a chronological database of water conflicts around the world (pacinst.org/water-conflict-chr) One excellent example of gaining rights to water is through the process of building a dam upstream of your "neighbor" like China, India, Pakistan, Egypt, Ethiopia...

@Victor oh, then by that definition there have always been water wars.

i'm speaking specifically of water scarcity due to climate change & pollution making it more likely to attack & take over the water rights in a particular country.

canada has some of the most fresh water in the world. that's what i worry about.
