So just thinking about how silly my thoughts are sometimes. I have lost 40 lbs in the last few months by working my ass off- eating well & moving consistently. Instead of just accepting that for the tremendous accomplishment it is, I also find myself feeling embarrassed. I'm a short woman, so I keep thinking, "Will people hear that number and be disgusted that I had that much to lose to begin with?" or "Will people be aghast that I've lost so much, and I'm still not at a healthy weight?"
@Vhines38 Congratulations!
That is an amazing achievement.
@Vhines38 it's hard to be proud of our accomplishments.... So in the meantime.... Allow us to tell you that you've accomplished something amazing. You are working hard. You have come so far. We are proud of you 💜
@Vhines38 That's awesome! How have you been feeling physically and mentally?
@nevikjames Mostly better. Life has been difficult- personally and professionally. I really think that without the benefits of feeling healthier I would have let it all bury me. I'm prone to depression and anxiety, but I think the exercise in particular has staved the worst of it off. The other stuff is trending up though so I'm excited about the future.
@Vhines38 I've heard stories of those that lose weight that friends and family might not be quite as comfortable with the weight loss either because they project their dissatisfaction with their weight/health.
Hopefully you haven't encountered that.
@nevikjames No I haven't thankfully. That would be rough. I would like to think that if someone did that to me I would distance myself from them. I'm tough enough on myself.
@Vhines38 Yup. No one needs that toxicity in their lives, even if it's family. Keep rocking it!
@Vhines38 You have achieved amazing results and it has taken discipline and changing life habits to accomplish what you’ve done!
Most people cannot consistently stick to an exercise program and healthy eating…but you have!
Kudos!
@Vhines38 Good job, Vanessa. I'm very happy for you. Don't worry about folks that aren't supportive. Threy aren't worth a second thought. ❤
@awnaves The funny thing is that there's no one who's been unsupportive. I work from home and don't really get out with friends- so honestly there's not really anyone other than my family who would notice the change. I could tell internet friends who I don't see in person, and they don't even really have a point of reference to understand how that 40 pounds changed my body. I guess that's kinda my point. This is all in my head. My own unreasonable doubts are diminishing my achievement.
@Vhines38 Relatable. Be proud of yourself. FWIW, a 40 lb weight loss in a few months is tremendous and you aren't alone. Many people find themselves with extra pounds after pandemic life. I know I sure do!
@Vhines38 what other people think really isn't YOUR problem. it shows THEY have issues they should be dealing with.
and congratulations on your weight loss so far. it IS hard work
@Vhines38 Do what makes you feel good, don’t worry what others think. Make sure whatever you do makes you feel happy and fulfilled, life is too short. If losing weight makes you feel better and healthy then good for you. 😊
I still have work to do and don't get me wrong, I feel good about where I'm at and where I'm headed, but there's clearly some other work I need to do to get my head in the right space.
