The undersea cables being cut this week by Russia and China had me thinking about future communication. How will we all communicate without the Internet.

We are going to need a massive text message group.

Carrier Pigeons

We have a flock someone sends out a couple of times a day. They around the old Army Navy Rehab Hospital towers and land. Then fly out in formation around the Historic District then back up Central Ave toward Lake Hamilton.

My paternal ancestors had carrier pigeons in south New Jersey (Oaklyn); I only toured their cages once.

Oddly enough, they were German herbalists from generations back; my father was the first to attend Medical School and become an MD.

Even odder? He misdiagnosed his father's "pigeon disease" as a "simple flu" β‰ˆ and Grandpa S died as a result.

After WW II, Dad decided to enter the Insurance world as Staff Physician; he preferred regular hours over "3am phone calls".
