@awnaves Wishing you the best in this big move! If you need help with resources once you get here as well don't hesitate to ask! <3 #cosomutualaid
@FrankCannon I can help with that lol. Def can get you a good price for wherever you are. @awnaves
@MrGoat @FrankCannon
@awnaves $3,000 seems to be the going rate. Just spent $3,200 to get our dog from the States down here to Panama. He flew on a temperature controlled cargo flight. Best of luck with your move.
@FrankCannon this is the service we used. They were great https://petsgoglobal.com/
@MrGoat @awnaves
@TwitterExpat Just about to take a look at that,thanks!We've only found one service that carries them so far,from Dublin.Been pulling our hair out. @MrGoat @awnaves
@FrankCannon @TwitterExpat @awnaves So is it possible to get a Delta flight that leaves Dublin to the USA? I believe delta allows pets in cabin and will even hold.
@FrankCannon @TwitterExpat @awnaves My other idea is to ferry to mainland and depart at an airline that allows pets? I'm looking around.
@FrankCannon @TwitterExpat @awnaves I would assume it's a minimal personals bring on or how much of your stuff are you brining or is that a cargo deal? =D
@MrGoat Bringing us,the cats and bare minimum of luggage.Anything else will be in storage here until we're situated properly. @TwitterExpat @awnaves
@FrankCannon Good luck with the move to US. Hope it is as good as you hoped it would be. :)
@Cynanthrope 👍 Oh it definitely will be,this is the only stumbling block we've hit through the whole process.Totally out of the blue.
@MrGoat They were the first to put us on the long finger.From what we've seen U.S carriers have an embargo on all animals flying from here unless you're an employee of the State Department or armed forces.Got as far as online booking,went to add the girls and got a "nope." 🤷♂️
@TwitterExpat @awnaves
@FrankCannon @TwitterExpat @awnaves Call - all these places and speak with someone directly - ask until you get good answer or help in some way. Not rude but persistent and concerned.
@MrGoat Been doing that,no joy at all,no exceptions.Apart from Aer Lingus who we're going with.Can't even get them to mainland UK to fly them from there. @TwitterExpat @awnaves
@FrankCannon Dang, so they go as cargo yes? @TwitterExpat @awnaves
@MrGoat Have to,it's that or leave them and that's never been an option.That seems to be a new change but airlines haven't updated their site info about it online. @TwitterExpat @awnaves
@MrGoat @FrankCannon @awnaves our boy, Ziggy, flew on a cargo plane that is set up for pets. All I know is the plane flys out of Miami every Wednesday. Amsterdam seems to be a common hub. The company I mentioned earlier does a lot of relocating in and out of the UK.
@TwitterExpat Only carrier we got any joy with to get them to the US was Aer Lingus from Dublin.Everything else was a bust. @MrGoat @awnaves
@FrankCannon because of his size my options from Portland, Oregon to Panama City was to get him to Los Angeles. From there he would have flown to Amsterdam. Held at the airport in a pet area for two day then flown to PTY. I opted to drive across country to Miami where is was a direct 3 hour flight. The experience could not have been better for the dog. Me? Well I *got* to drive across Nebraska 🤣@MrGoat @awnaves
@TwitterExpat From what I know of it there's not too much to see driving through Nebraska!😂 @MrGoat @awnaves
@TwitterExpat We looked at doing something similar,through Amsterdam but the price jumped to way beyond what it'll cost us even now. @MrGoat @awnaves
@TwitterExpat 👍 It seems to be a recent thing,from this end anyway.We were struggling to even find an airline that'd carry them at all. @MrGoat @awnaves
