@TwiHusband When was the last time the IRS did an investigation of a church for doing political activity, or any of the many other things a nonprofit cannot do and still qualify?

Even less often than they investigate the thousands of other shady, fake, often politically-active, but just-grifty "nonprofits" that aren't religious.

If I recall correctly, they do maybe 5 or 6 investigations of churches per year. With nearly half a million churches in the US.

IRS has not done a good job of enforcing the Johnson Act.

If States would remove property tax exemptions from all so-called churches that engage in partisan politics, and if states, counties and/or municipalities would enforce it, the property taxes paid by the rest of us might be substantially reduced.

@Priestess @TwiHusband If we would enforce half the laws we have, poor though some of them are, we'd already be better off. I worry that passing laws doesn't help when nobody does anything about them.
