The problem that the GOP is having here is that they generally approve of everything the asshole did. In his shoes they'd have done the same thing to hang on to power.
However, it was illegal as hell.
Think about this. If Paxton hadn't intervened, Abbott would have lost too. Beto O'Rourke would be Governor of Texas....and they might start having some sane gun regulations. Maybe no Uvalde?
