Thinking about picking up a second language. When I was in jr high school it was forced on us. So needless to say I did the bare min.
Now I think I wanna learn one. I was thinking Japanese (yes really) maybe French when I go to Canada. Maybe both what y'all think
@sentientdessert only 5. sounds intimidating lol
@Timmah1979 I have spoken several different languages in my life through school, home and living abroad (Spanish, Latin, French and German) but the only one I'm fluent in is cursing. ;)
Seriously, I cheer your language goals. It can be very good for the brain. I'd like to learn sign language eventually.
@TrueBloodNet I just found one on Libby and I picked Norwegian. They said it's the 3rd easiest language to learn. We shall see how this plays out.
@Timmah1979 Oh nice choice! :)
I have an unopened learn by tape program for Gaelic that I don't think I even have a way to play any more. LOL It's way hard to pronounce.
Some languages, have sounds that people who didn't grow up listening to them can't hear. French, for instance.
Anway, have lots of fun and let us know how it's going!
@Timmah1979 DO It!!!
I'd love to learn Japanese as well as learning to be fluent in French
@ACG2 im gonna test the waters with some Norwegian. It's supposedly 3rd easiest language to learn for English speakers. French ranked 7 and Japanese was 10.
@Timmah1979 Wow! Who knew Norwegian could be an easier language to learn! Why is this not offered in middle and high school!???
@Timmah1979 My best advice with Japanese, kids manga. It'll help you learn the kana (alphabet) and improve your reading speed for the up to down, right to left.
There are also only 5 vowel sounds. When you learn them the rest flows a lot easier when speaking.
