It's a Friday evening in Texas, which means sitting through a high school football playoff game tonight. Oh, and did I mention it is pouring right now? 😂

@The_Ghost_Rat games don't get canceled in Texas on Friday nights until the tornado is 20 blocks away LOL

@Susandoyle So true! We had one delayed this year, but never canceled!

@The_Ghost_Rat I was always amused living in Texas it was like "Yeah huge cell moving at 90 MPH 2 miles away heading your direction folks" Football "OK we will send everyone to the gym in a few minutes but first homecoming court.."

@Susandoyle I'm feeling "seen" right now. LOL It's been a culture shift for me, to be sure. I'm a Yank, and these are not my people. But we make due.

@The_Ghost_Rat I was a "yank" there for a couple of decades....I too was a fish out of water but found my people eventually

@Susandoyle I'm hoping that happens, as we expect to be here another 8 years.

@Susandoyle Outside Houston - will share city privately, but not publicly. Where were you at?

@The_Ghost_Rat general area is fine...if you haven't yet, take a day trek to Austin, it's weird, and you will find folks. They also have awesome Texas BBQ off the country roads that way. As your drive, if you smell BBQ, chances are there's a guy with his truck, smoker, picnic tables, and fantastic food. I am in a Los Angeles suburb but have lived in North Texas for quite a spell

@Susandoyle We love Austin, and we love the city of Houston. We go into the city as often as we can... tomorrow we are headed just north of Houston to hit the Ren Fest. Living just outside though you sink quickly back into deep red Texas.

@The_Ghost_Rat other cool thing about area you live in NOLA is a pretty easy drive. Just don't go when LSU is playing a home game it is a tad nuts then

@Susandoyle LOL... yeah, we've made that mistake in College Station. Have only been over to NOLA a couple of times, but I always love going there.

@The_Ghost_Rat Yes stay away from College Station during home games too LOL. Other awesome place is the Hill Country and the little towns with outside dining and live music venues. Or just to float on a tube down the river :)

@Susandoyle Haven't done the river yet, but did spend some time in Fredericksburg. Definitely want to go back sometime.

@Susandoyle Will have to check that out - appreciate the recommendation. We enjoy San Antonio, so a good chance we will get over there this winter.

@The_Ghost_Rat The river walk is cool in SA but go to the burbs incredible places to explore there

@Susandoyle We've been over to New Braunfels but weren't aware of Gruene at the time.

@The_Ghost_Rat adorable country store, Inn on the river to stay , a winery, and a great music venue that pulls some incredible talent

Follow

@Susandoyle Liking the music and the wine. Last weekend we found a place north of Houston that makes mead and has live music. Fun!

@The_Ghost_Rat There's also a pretty great Renaissance fair south of Dallas that's worth a visit in Spring.

@Susandoyle Yes! We have been once before and are going back tomorrow as long as the weather clears. Really looking forward to it!

@The_Ghost_Rat My kids are all still in TX (ok grown ups but always my kids) and I watch the radar, so yes it might be a tad ugly again tomorrow

@Susandoyle We still might slog around in the mud there. It's not like you are supposed to come out of a Ren Fest perfectly clean.... lol.

@The_Ghost_Rat true. Take a clothing change texas mud is a bastage to get off car interiors
