Scariest PG or G rated movie that scared you as a kid?
I’ll go first. Something Wicked This Way comes. I was TERRIFIED, but it was also my favorite. https://youtu.be/Up7KHbJTmoo
@tgraph52 Eeeeeee!!
Phillip Kaufman's '78 remake of "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers."
I had nightmares FOR WEEKS.
It was PG. 😆
@InUnfunky Holy Crap, YES!!!
Originally was gonna say "2001" believe it or no JUST FOR the "open the pod bay doors, HAL"/"Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built For Two)" part which -- though terrifying -- is but what, a third of the flick? (The Kubrick film was rated G.) But nah, "Invasion" won.
@InUnfunky OMG yes. HAL terrified me too, but Invasion of the Body Snatchers was another level.
@TheRealDelia Secret of Nimh, The Black Cauldron, and The Dark Crystal. I’m sure there were others.
@fuse Oooh! Yes! The Dark Crystal especially, but all three of those scared me.
@TheRealDelia Ernest Scared Stupid. I begged my Dad to take me, he was worried it would be too scary for me. This is coming from a 3 year old child that would sneak downstairs to watch Alfred Hitchcock Presents. My cousin would say E.T..
@Ruthat E.T. was scary! Your cousin was right! But I can absolutely see why you’d vote for Ernest Scared Stupid.
@TheRealDelia Aye...my first fright was released before ratings... "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1956). Was on my local "Creature Features" show. Shiver me timbers, I had nightmares for years that my family "changed".
Also, Wizard of Oz. The scenes with Dorothy imprisoned with the hourglass and crystal ball scared the heck out of me!
@kay_dub I remember seeing Wizard of Oz when I was 3-4, and being frozen with terror in those scenes.
@TheRealDelia Hmm Rated PG or G is the thing. I didn't watch Disney stuff because it gave me nightmares as a very young kid. Stuff like Bambi, Dumbo, etc. None of them.
@TheRealDelia The Poseidon Adventure 😱
@Lavransdattar Yesssss!
@TheRealDelia The Dark Crystal (1982) and Labyrinth (1986)
@Neomathis76 LABYRINTH
@TheRealDelia
