October Halloween Story Time

The Doll in the Corner

Lily found the doll in the attic when she moved into her grandmother’s old house. It was dusty, with glassy blue eyes and a faded lace dress. Something about it was unsettling, but she shrugged it off, placing it in the corner of her bedroom for decoration.

That night, as she lay in bed, Lily couldn’t shake the feeling she was being watched. She glanced at the doll, its lifeless eyes staring at her. She rolled over, trying to ignore it.

Around midnight, a sound woke her—a faint rustling, like fabric dragging across the floor. Her heart raced, but she forced herself to stay calm. It’s nothing, she thought. Just the house settling.

But then she heard it again—closer this time. Slowly, she turned on the bedside lamp, her eyes darting to the corner where the doll sat.

It was gone.

Lily’s breath caught in her throat. Her eyes scanned the room in panic. The rustling sound returned, this time from behind her.

Terrified, she whipped around to face the noise, and there, standing on the floor right beside her bed, was the doll. Its blue eyes seemed to gleam in the dim light, its head slightly tilted as if it were studying her.

Before she could react, the doll’s porcelain face twisted into a grin, and in a voice no larger than a whisper, it said:

“Come play.”
