October Halloween Story Time
The Keyhole
Emily had just moved into a quaint old house on the edge of town. It had character—creaky floors, an attic filled with forgotten relics, and old-fashioned doors with keyholes you could still peek through. She loved everything about it, except the strange door at the end of the hall.
It was tall and unnaturally still, just standing there, facing the door. Emily’s heart raced, and she quickly backed away. Her rational mind told her it was probably just a reflection or a shadow.
The next night, the light under the door returned. Her curiosity burned hotter. She leaned down and peeked through the keyhole again. This time, she saw the figure more clearly—a woman, standing alone, her back to the door, dressed in old-fashioned clothing.
Emily’s breath caught. Who was she? What was this room?
Unable to shake the eerie feeling, Emily went to the landlord the next day and asked about the strange door. His face paled when she mentioned it.
“Don’t look through that keyhole,” he warned.
“Why?” she asked.
“Because…” he hesitated, “a woman was murdered in that room years ago. They say her spirit still haunts it. And one more thing… She had no eyes.”
Chilled to the bone, Emily returned home that evening, trying to ignore the door. But as night fell, the light under the door appeared again, beckoning her. Against her better judgment, she crouched one last time and peered through the keyhole.
All she saw was red. Just an empty, crimson view, like a filter covering her vision. Confused, she stood back up.
Then, from behind the door, a voice whispered:
“I see you.”
It was always locked, and no matter how hard she tried, none of her keys would open it. Curiosity gnawed at her, especially when she noticed a faint light coming from beneath the door at night, though she was certain no one else was in the house.
One night, unable to resist anymore, Emily crouched down to peer through the keyhole. At first, she saw nothing but darkness. But after a moment, she could make out something—a figure, standing in the room.
