Louise-Adรฉone Drรถlling, also known as Madame Joubert, was a French painter and draftswoman. Both her father, Martin Drรถlling, and her older brother, Michel Martin Drรถlling, were celebrated artists in their day. Having been taught by her father (who had also been the teacher of her brother), she practiced a highly skillful art.

Unfortunately, as it often happens in art history, some of her paintings and drawings have been attributed to either of both men.In today's painting, we see a young woman tracing a drawing of a tulip against a windowpane; her earlier study lies discarded on the floor, having been distracted by her pet squirrel perched on a nearby armchair. This painting may be a self-portrait of the artist at work in her studio.

It was awarded a gold medal at the 1824 Salon and was subsequently acquired for the prestigious collection of the French aristocrat, the Duchesse de Berry.
