i got some from asian market, clearly marked as seaweed & 'fish' parts
the thought isn't/wasn't appetizing for me

Maybe they're using some seaweed extract as a binder, but it's basically fishpaste.
Also, seaweed is GOOD for you, it's like spinach with extra minerals.
i only like 2 green things - string beans & artichokes
that is the limit of my green intake π

All the surimi I've ever had or used is made from pollock, a fish, no seaweed.
Surimi's not "horrible", neither is kamaboko, which is basically the same stuff.
