I have successfully gotten Thunder to take his first prednisone pill.
Tried hiding in wet food, that didn't work.
Tried holding him and putting it in his mouth, that didn't work.
I broke a kitty treat and sprinkled it on the floor with the pill mixed it. That worked.

Over 30 years with cats we were only successful once with any pilling method. “Fool me once…,” is the feline mantra.
We finally resorted to having a compounding pharmacy supply a transdermal ointment for steroid you rub on the inside of their ear. Have your vet prescribe and refer to the compounding pharmacy they use.
You have to ask for it They loose revenue but have to do as you wish.
