Upon receiving my long overdue Honeycomb Charlie Rudder Pedals, I threw together this SUPER QUICK unboxing video. Apologies for the wind screwing with the audio. I was really excited and just wanted to get this out.
Soooooo, Picard has 'engage'. Janeway has 'do it'. Burnham has 'let's fly'. Pike has 'hit it'. If you were the captain of a starship, what would be your goto phrase to get underway?
Bonus question: what would be the name of your starship?
I would command the Sovereign Class USS Hypatia and go to warp saying 'let's roll'.
The sim continues to teach.
Heavy wind shears reported at my destination but I figured they'd dissipate by the time I got there (Ron Howard voiceover: "They hadn't") and took off for it anyway.
Three approaches, three go arounds. Should've diverted but tried a fourth time. I nailed a landing all right...at the top of an NTSB investigative docket.
If I didn't respect wind shear in the real world, I sure as hell do now.
Pics 1-3: Just boppin' around western Oregon en route to KPDX. Some of you oldheads might know what I mean when I say that the clouds and coloring remind me of Fly!/Fly! II (Plane: vFlyteAir Arrow III; clouds: Enhanced Skyscapes; scenery: Oregon by Orbx and Portland Intl. by Flightbeam).
Pic 4: On final KPHL Runway 26 with downtown Philly and the stadia off my right wing.
The rules of engagement are to not fire unless fired upon but, after evading the missile, the aggressor has closed to within visual range. It is then that you decide to handle the situation using the greatest economy.
Leaving Seattle for a zippy, low-altitude hop to Portland in TorqueSim's Cirrus SR22TN G3, basically to appreciate the Orbx TrueEarth adventures of both Washington and Oregon. Come for terrain, stay for the mountains.
