@jsto wish I'd have been one. I hate them.
@Tail what happened mister
@jsto nothing specific really, just dealing with any legal things, like a small claims case I filed, and getting help, they're so literal and .. lawyerly. I probably would've made a good one if I tried. Doesn't seem like much fun though.
@Tail I see! indeed normative ethics is a cool subject and absolutely a legit criticism in the US is that the legal system is inaccessible to regular people
(and much love to all the lawyers out there who help artists etc. on that front)
@jsto Indeed. Honestly if I were a lawyer I'd be very pro-bono especially when giving out advice. Like, people need to know how the stuff works and so few do, it's very convoluted and strict. You really have to have the right mind for it.
And of course it's always about the money. Money money money. I am very much not about the money.
@Tail perhaps a justice professor, then
and on that note if you haven’t seen Sandel/Harvard’s excellent Justice series online, you might be into it ⚖️
if not, there is the show Moonhaven which has no lawyers??? (I’m only on E1)
@jsto I've heard of that one I think but I don't think I've heard much of it. What's it about?
@Tail Merry Brandybuck is a cop, Earth is effed and there’s a prototype utopia on the moon overseen by some weird AI
@jsto that sounds pretty groovy, I'm into utopia/dystopia stuff, I'll for sure check it out. I've run out of shows to watch and books to read.
@Tail well the one thing I’ve always got is books books all kinds of books Bookshop.org/shop/JSto (also the thing wherein I write them)
@jsto so I saw, your series' sounds pretty interesting and a nice change of pace from my usual fantasy-esque reads. Going on my TBR list for sure. 👍
