@WhoopassGirl There's definitely an art to it. My problem is I just wing it and cut corners, usually relying on tasting as I go and adjusting as necessary. That doesn't really fly when it comes to baking.

First time I tried making cupcakes, I wanted to make the birthday kind with little colored spots in it, I thought they added little drops of food coloring into the batter as they were mixing it, so I added a bunch of different colors.

Ended up with dark vomit green bread clumps.😬
