Last winter a moose came onto my property so I did what any smart person would and decided I'd stick my hand in its mouth. Crosspost.

@floryloughead Oh wow. In my experience, moose are mostly chill unless it's a mama with babies, that's an absolute hard no.

@Tail we lived in bear and moose land for a few years and never had a problem. Mama bears, mama moose, no biggie. If they sense danger, one is screwed, if they sense friend, no problem. Daughter used to walk through the forest to class in college, bears were a few feet away, never a problem. When we lived in the Kenai, moose where everywhere. Cows and calves, never a problem.

@floryloughead I'm halfway between Soldotna and Kenai right now, matter of fact.πŸ‘

@floryloughead Ah, I was born and raised in Anchorage, never spent much time in the rurals outside of work purposes, but my mom moved down here in 2013. Tbh I can't stand it here, but she's super sick and stupid so I'm trying to take care of her. Schismatic.

@Tail told 35 year old daughter about your plight and she will trade spaces in a second. She worked at the curio shop next to DQ in Soldotna, painted the fish door, doubt it’s still there.
We miss Alaska, hate Florida but can’t afford to move back.

@floryloughead Also 35, would be an easy trade for me. I spent some time in Orlando, but ngl I wouldn't stay. Thing about Alaska is as big as it might be, it's incredibly small and isolated. Too cold of a winter in CO? You can just drive down to California. Alaska is an island and I've got the fever.

I've just outgrown it here, I'm ready to move on but I'm stuck.

@Tail I’m almost 65. Spent 11 years in Ketchikan, 4 in Soldotna, moved to Florida because of my now dead mom. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, have lived in Florida, Georgia, California, Texas, New York, Kentucky, Kansas, Washington, South Carolina, Alaska, Germany, and would sell my soul to have never left Alaska but…

Travel, look, enjoy, the world is a buffet.

@floryloughead These are some truths! I've worked all over but never had much opportunity to enjoy the places I was at except for Kodiak, which I LOVE, and Nome. Nome's a crazy place with amazing food. I was there for the Iditarod and it was a trip.

I've had my eyes on Germany, or somewhere over there. Started learning Norwegian to maybe head up there one day, but alas I'm stuck here taking care of my soon to be dead mom. Lots of parallels here.πŸ€”

@Tail Kodak is awesome. We went there for a long weekend and loved it. Cordova is actually rather interesting. Food is shite but we had a good time.
