So how do you know Fox News lies? Do they? How do we know MSNBC is telling the truth? Honestly they both are shit in my opinion. But I’m not about to call major news outlets liars. I remember when the media just reported the facts.
@Swayne "How do we know Fox News lies?" <--Well the first hint would be that the CEO recently admitted that Fox knowingly kept news anchors on tv that were spewing bullshit to their viewers for ratings...
Btw, how did you find this place if you don't know that Fox is faux 'news'? 👀
@ChillySnowgirl I’m not saying they don’t lie. Just pointing out that other media outlets lie also. But you can believe what you want.
I blame two issues. Firstly, the emergence of cable news networks in the 80's. They'd get "stuck" on a major story and, from there, the temptation to editorialize to keep viewership was inevitable and the lines between "news" and "opinion" got obfuscated. Secondly, the repeal of the "Fairness Doctrine" that required news outlets give equal time to the opposing point of view. This paved the way for news outlets to "polarize".
.
The later emergence of the WWW just made it worse.
