"The Veiled Virgin" by Giovanni Strazza.
It was completed in the early 1850s and is a true wonder of beautiful Carrara white marble.
Many people, not familiar with the piece, on first looking at a photo of her are surprised that the veil is actually marble and not very thin cloth..
