Y’all asking for advice. A dear friend’ going through divorce, has had an emotional break recently & tried to commit suicide. She recognized she needs help but couldn’t get an appt until mid-March. I’ve given her crisis resources via nonprofit To Write Love On Her Arms. She promises not to try again but I know with folks in crisis you have to be careful. Does anyone have any other ideas? She still has three teenagers at home, so I’m concerned for them all. Thanks in advance for your advice. ❤️

@StarlightEmber

Is she stuck with certain practices, do you know? If not, you could offer to call around and help her find someone who could see her sooner.

This site is super helpful for finding someone. You can filter by care type, insurance, and other things. You can also see if someone's blurb speaks to you, improving the chances of a good match. (There is also a listing site for therapists available.) psychologytoday.com/us/psychia

@misterfive Thank you, she’s got Kaiser, I think, so has to go through their greater network, but I’ll check this out. I’m honestly not opposed to paying out of pocket for her to at least get in sooner

@StarlightEmber

You can filter the list at the link by insurance network. Some plans require referrals though, which makes it harder to go to a different group or service than your primary care group.

@misterfive I’m sincerely thankful for your help, wishing you a lovely day
