I just bought football tickets to a game fans aren't even allowed to attend. I dare you to waste more money than I did today.
@opie That's an even bigger bummer. When I was a kid my dad took me up to Seattle 1995 and we saw UCLA win the title. Final Fours are a great experience.
I actually do have a real response to that...
I'm a season ticket holder for $LOCAL_COLLEGE_FOOTBALL_TEAM
we pay for those tix well in advance of the season
when it was announced that no one could actually *attend* those games, they sent a heartfelt email to us:
"even tho you can't attend these games, it'd be super awesome if you just let us keep the money"
they sorta got me, but not totally...it's complicated...
@opie They didn't offer a transfer over to next year? Or an added year? Oof. That's what they let us do. We got an extra year.
I bought extra tickets for the Stanford game because they offered face masks and t-shirts. This is the closest thing they'll have to a fundraiser so I felt sorta obligated.
they offered all the things...but what they really wanted was to just keep the money...it was offputting...
@opie Cal made the suggestion of turning ticket payments into tax-deductible donations. But they offered full refunds without the guilt trip. That would be off-putting.
@Spes81
I had tickets to the 2020 final four...for which I had to apply and pay in advance in 2018...the result of 8 years of status building with the NCAA through other ticket purchases...
granted...not the same...
