I had an uncle with 2 canons. One was a little one he popped off at local high school football game scores, 4th of July, birthdays, and if a neighbor became annoying. The other was a bigger one used in civil war re-enactments. He also had a number of muzzle-loading rifles (mofos kicked like a mule and dropped the ball on the ground at about 50 yards)
