@SheepOverboard I have previously posted here on CoSo my irritation (admiration) for Canadians, who have a reasonably responsive representative democracy. You may assume that I add Australia to that list.
(so, assuming AU will take political prisoners in the future, will you sponsor me/family/34million other Americans, pretty please??)

As politically "progressive" goes, Australia to New Zealand is like, well, the US to Iceland.
The KiWis are a smaller Australia but more prone to electing centrist governments. They are currently arguing with the Aus govt about human rights issues. Etc.
So put them on your list - above Aus.
