Watching #Twisters ... One of the reasons I don't watch a lot of American films is because it's all ... stupid and cliche and unoriginal. They do the same things over and over. Same conflicts, same characters, same motivations etc. Its never a new take on an issue or a different perspective. American writers have the same mindset and they look at the world the same way which is why everything feels exactly the same and they make the same films over and over again. Same exact characters.
Alien Romulus was the same thing. It was a cut and paste of so many of the same things. It's not nostalgia it's simply unoriginality. It's boring and shows that you have absolutely no new ideas to bring to the cinematic table. And that seems crazy to me because there are so many writers out there ... but when you all see the world the exact same way as everyone else you can't begin to be creative. There is no creativity because everyone is in the same state of mind with the same limitations.
@thewebrecluse I love your posts. They make me reflect. I like books, movies, any kind of story that makes me feel something. Not fear or terror, more from the heat.
@SatuUnelmia I'm often watching media for different reasons than most and I'm looking for different things. 99% of American films are the same and I feel really bored watching them. The most unique ones are usually made by foreign directors who are bringing a different cultural perspective into things ... a different viewpoint that isn't drowning in the centered, tedious, American perspective. Many people like films that make them feel things because they are quite disconnected.
@SatuUnelmia when you're a whole person who is quite regulated emotionally, you may watch media or read books for more artistic or analytical reasons and not just to simply be manipulated by common tricks. When you look beyond manipulation in media and come at things with more of a mental focus, you see through them quickly and find a lot of that kind of media boring and it's just insulting. Twisters is one such film. It has not one shread of originality.
@thewebrecluse I am screenshotting this and will definitely look more into it later! Thank you!
