A friend just told me I am being intellectually dishonest, because I do not believe that an AR-15 style military rifle is intended for "hunting".

I'm fairly certain that our military did not purchase those so our soldiers could shoot game animals.

I am also informed that I am crazy because it simply is not possible for them to be converted to automatic fire.

I guess I better tell my friends I go shooting with that their modified automatic weapon doesn't work.

It sure _felt_ real!

@AskTheDevil I’m all for the 2nd amendment, but agree with you that automatic weapons are in a different category.

@SatuUnelmia The thing that gets me is that these are weapons that are designed to kill humans. They're designed to _look_ like human killing weapons. They are branded and advertised as weapons to make someone feel tough and military-ish.

When people have a hammer, they go looking for nails.

These weapons are intended for ending human lives, and they look like it and are designed for that purpose. Pretending they're for hobbies and entertainment is a lie. And that lie won't stop the violence.

@AskTheDevil The right to bear arms to me was to defend your home and family. Not to be a one man army and wipe out everything you see. I just don’t feel it was in the spirit of what the founding fathers saw as a possible future when the right was drafted.
