Has anyone else watched the Netflix documentary “The Great Hack”? It’s about Cambridge Analytics and how they played in social media for elections around the world up to 2016. One claim was made that Trump hired them away from Cruz helping him using Facebook. They had legal action against them in Great Britain election before ours. Part of the things that came out of that trial was the disbanded the company. However Facebook has never provided evidence that they completely destroyed their copy.
@rpardee I wondered about that. Facebook/Meta has been very protective of how they obtained their data to train their AI model. Comments have been made that they used scraping of their data including Cambridge Analytics copy they had starting in 2007 I think. This could be all false because I’m making assumptions based on things I read in the past but can’t actually prove it.
@SatuUnelmia eh, FB has so much data, and so little transparency about how it gets used that I expect they don't need the old CA data to do quite a lot of bad things if they decide it's in their interest.
Keep an eye on Emerdata. I believe that's the new brand.
@Sr0bi Yes 100% according to Wikipedia
SCL/Cambridge Analytica/affiliates still have offices in Brazil

And it was UK referendum - UK leave campaign had an insider

Great documentary that - journalist Carol Cadwalladr's explanation of how filed documents in the USA show that Facebook's explanation of its involvement with Cambridge Analytica has more holes in it than a kitchen colander.
@ecksmc I sat in shock and horror watching it. Then called my entire family and demanded they watch it 😂
Kenya was the testing ground then CA sold their strategy to leave EU campaign then Brexit became another testing ground which CA then used to sell the strategy to Trump Campaign
A scary scandal showing us how our data can be used to manipulate in such a large scale is eye opening for sure and people should watch that documentary
@ecksmc they had one country fighting and killing each other, it was horrific and your mind was to say it’s fiction but they laid it all out. I thought about it because I was reading an article about Apple asking before using other companies data to train its AI. Facebook was weird in its statement.
Then I read about the investigation into social media and damage to our kids.
Then Trump saying he would destroy Meta and Mark would be in Jail.
All seemed to linked together
@SatuUnelmia oops
This is the link about EU referendum

The one above is about Kenya - Cambridge Analytica’s parent company on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s successful re-election campaign in Kenya. With help from a Brexit MP who denied working for CA then admitted it.
@ecksmc that was well worth my 15 mins to watch the video. Thank you as always for sharing your knowledge!
@SatuUnelmia Brittany Nicole Kaiser is the one shown in that 13min film
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brittany_Kaiser
Between February 2015 and January 2018, Kaiser worked full-time for the SCL Group, the parent company of Cambridge Analytica
@ecksmc he sidestepped the question of working for Trump quite quickly. Answered but not really.
@SatuUnelmia yep, I saw that. Very enlightening. As I recall, the principals behind CA have recongealed into a new corporation--Emerdata.
