I'm re-reading Wuthering Heights for my Classics Book Club. I was probably a teenager or very young adult when I last read it. My take this time is: What a trainwreck! Terrible people being terrible and destroying all the lives around them. So strange that this is perceived as romance in some circles. Have you read it? What's your take? #CoSoReaders
@LordyIHopeTheRTapes Right? I mean, I can't really cheer for our hero and heroine to get together, and the story quickly makes that impossible anyway by killing one of them off! The bitterness and rage is well portrayed though, so maybe that's what makes the book so lasting.
@Samanthabwriter The back cover copy on mine is all about how it's a romance, and it cracks me up every time.
No, it's not. It's a tragedy about how family traumas feed on themselves.

I've never understood why Hollywood sold Wuthering Heights as a romance. There's nothing. Nada. Zip. Loving about these characters.
