@ToolPackinMama Although over the long haul I agree with the position that usage drives meaning, it sticks in my craw that a large number of people making a common usage mistake can change it not to be a mistake.
Case in point - irregardless. Years of being taught "not a word; double negative " makes acceptance hard to swallow. "It isn't preferred, and is 'redundant' "say current linguists.
