Genuine question to any of you who work in the food service industry (or who just know the answer): Why charge a tip and a take out fee on to go orders? I don’t mind supporting the people who make our food, but I’m confused by this.

@iamwill1w9 I'm wondering if they are now adding take out fee to cover containers, bags, utensils etc. that they don't incur when dining in and then tips go to workers? 🤷

If those containers ARE NOT styrofoam I wouldn’t mind. I only order carry-out from restaurants who are responsible environmentally. I refuse plastic flatware/straws/bags.
You never forget seeing a large sea turtle with a plastic straw in their eye socket.
