We had an in-person company-wide meeting yesterday and I, of course, as a seeker of truth and a fighter for what is right and just, asked a couple of questions.

They were, of course, dodged by the CEO, and my concerns were completely devalued by the interim head of HR who is an unapologetic boomer. I really can't wait for her to be gone, as she was only hired to deal with all the redundancies, and I have no clue why she's still here. Nasty job done by a truly nasty person.

So then, the seeker of truth and the fighter for what is right and just felt like she had been spat on.

I was incredibly upset, and the CEO, to my surprise, approached me after the meeting asking how I was and attempting to understand where I was coming from. He has only been with us for a few months and doesn't know the background that is critical for him to understand for the company to jump back.

He said I gave him a lot of food for thought, but did it change how I felt? Not really.

My team and I have been proactively driving change, overcoming challenges, dealing with unreasonable KPI increases, always pushing for improvement and quality (we make the core product in a high-stakes assessment setting), and yet we've NEVER been recognised as adding value.
We were excluded from important conversations around innovations and not consulted before launching new products, and therefore those failed as they were simply not fit for purpose.
