You know, I love teaching, I do. But when I wake up to class cancellations a part of me just gets giddy because that means more fiction-writing time. :)
Today I'm going to tackle a novella with an end-of-month deadline, for submission to Psychopomp, the new press wing of The Deadlands, which is looking for speculative novellas on themes of death.

My piece is a near-future where climate has changed most human labour and ghosts have suddenly reappeared, going about the routines of lives that are no more. The protagonist is clinging to "phantom" routines of her own, while her partner is a PI who uses these cyclical ghost lives to bring peace to families trying to find out what happened to stolen loved ones. Should be fun!
