my grandmother was telling me a family story about how her great grandparents were killed during the French revolution & their baby was smuggled out of France in a basket of bread by the maid... and i just said "they probably deserved it". kinda ruined any chance at inheritance... (although, in researching genealogy, we can't find any family connection to France at all, so...)
