Pic appears to be just west of Yelnya itself. Between 15-20 miles from the Ukrainian border.
59th Tank Regiment belongs to 20th CAA. Units of 20th CAA and 41st CAA are mixed together along the northern stretch of the Ukrainian border as 41st CAA is slowly taking over some of 20th CAA's positions. The unidentified units may be from 1st Guards Tank Army but that's unconfirmed.
Ground is frozen now and will probably stay that way through next March. Making armored movement off road much easier.
There have been some changes to the make up of the elite 1st Guards Tank Army.
Initially it consisted of one tank division, one motor rifle division, one tank brigade, and one motor rifle brigade.
The tank brigade is being built out to division size. Giving the army 2 armored divisions, one motor rifle division, and one motor rifle brigade.
Based east of Moscow, but most units are currently southwest of Moscow.
