Created in 1974 by Gary Gygax & Dave Arneson, based on their love for miniature military wargames, set in a fantasy world, quickly became the scapegoat of Fundamentalist Christians, who argued that the ability to cast spells & use magic in the game was a gateway to getting into the occult. WOW!

In the 1980s, a Moral Panic surrounding D&D & it's debunked links to murders & suicides fueled the controversy after the suicide of James Dallas Egbert III.
